You might be wondering, what are alternative treatments? That sounds kind of vague. Well, that is a good question… and yes, that term is vague!
Alternative treatments when dealing with cancer relate to anything that is outside the conventional treatment plan. When you visit an oncologist (cancer doctor) about a possible cancer found in you, they have certain protocols that will shape their treatment plan. These protocols are based on the type of cancer you have and at what stage it is currently at. They may first require more testing, which could include things like CT scans, MRI scans, bloodwork, and biopsies. Once they have collected their information, they will then tell you what they believe to be the best course of action for your particular condition. Often, this will include chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and possibly surgery. All of these things are considered FDA-approved and are generally covered under most insurance plans.
But wait! What if you don’t like that plan and want to try more “natural” alternatives? Yes, that is also possible, though most doctors will tell you that they cannot recommend it. In my experience, they generally tell me that they cannot approve of most alternative treatments because there have not been enough FDA-approved studies to determine if they are truly beneficial. Trouble is… those studies are not being done because it is not cost-efficient for researchers (and Big Pharma) to do them. You may find doctors who will give you a hard time about trying alternative treatments and others, like mine, who might say, “I can’t approve it, but it is not a deal breaker for me. I understand that you want to try all that you can.”
So, what are alternative treatments? There are actually several. Some I have tried, and others I have not tried yet. Then there are those I have yet to discover! I will definitely blog about them when I find them!
Let me start with what I have tried.
- The first, and biggest thing to do, is to change your diet. Yep, it really is true that you are what you eat! In my case, I was a hot mess of colon cancer from too many years of eating unhealthy foods! Repeat this with me… “Sugar is your enemy!” I know sugary foods are delicious (and addictive)… but you must resist. Cancer feeds on sugar! It is one of the major pathways that feed cancer cells. It also causes inflammation in the body and causes your immune system to not be able to function well. Your immune system needs to be rejuvenated and put into high gear so that your body can work for you to fight off the unwanted cancer cells.
- So where does diet come into play? Well, the topic of diet has enough interesting points to have its own blog. Just know that your body needs to be fed food that is going to support a strong, healthy immune system. This includes eating a high amount of vegetables (which can be obtained through juicing), keeping away from sugar and foods high in carbohydrates (which will convert to sugar), avoiding processed foods of any kind, and limiting the amount of meat eaten to only two or three days a week (or less) with meat such as wild-caught salmon or lamb. Plus, several types of teas can help as well. Of course, eating organic, nutritious food in today’s market can add up quickly.
- Next on my alternative list… using off-label medications and supplements. I have a very long list of products that I am taking every day. Yes, this does include things like Ivermectin, fenbendazole, hydroxychloroquine, Vitamin D3 with K2, Zinc with copper, magnesium… and the list goes on and on. In another post, I will list all that I take and why I take each item. It is important to obtain high-quality products. You could be doing yourself more harm if you take in products that use chemicals and preservatives known to cause cancer! Needless to say, having a long list of supplements of good quality can also add up quickly. I have most of them spaced out so that they do not all need to be replaced at the same time.
- Third on my list of alternative treatments is high-dose IV Vitamin C. I have found that after starting these treatments, I tolerated my chemotherapy sessions better, and I do not get colds or sickness very easily. Conventional doctors do not believe this helps fight cancer. However, I have found in my experience that it has helped me to feel better while battling this cancer. The same is true for all of the supplements that I take. Please note that high-dose Vitamin C brings it from being an antioxidant to being a prooxidant. It is important not to take any antioxidant supplements on your IVC days. Also, you must have your blood tested prior to treatment for a rare condition called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, which can cause red blood cells to break down to the point of anemia. I try to do these infusions once a week, though it is recommended to do them two to three times a week. However, it is costly, which is why I have limited it to once every 7 to 10 days.
- Up next is ultraviolet blood irradiation with ozone therapy. This therapy starts by pulling your blood through an IV into a syringe (with heparin to prevent clots from forming). The blood is then placed into a half-filled saline bag to dilute the blood somewhat. The blood solution is then instilled with ozone air from a machine prior to running the blood solution through a special tubing that goes through the ultraviolet machine before being delivered back into you through the IV. This treatment has been around since the 1920s, with incredible results in healing illness and wounds. It may not cure cancer; however, it is a powerful tool in boosting your body’s immune system. It is recommended to do this once a week. However, it is costly, so I have only done it three times.
- This one is a little awkward to talk about, but it’s important in my regimen, and that is the coffee enema. Yep, you heard me right. I purchased an enema kit for this purpose. I make sure to use organic, enema-grade coffee along with filtered water. This has a few purposes for me. For one, it helps to detox your liver as well as to help get rid of any parasites. It also helps to clear any sludge or toxins that your body builds up. And for me, it helps me with discomfort from tumors in my abdomen and previous surgeries, which can cause me to have bloating and constipation along with pain. I typically do this about once every three days. (This is the link to the kit that I got: Amazon.com: PE Premium Enema Stainless Steel Enema Bucket Kit (2 Quart) Plus Douche Bulb – Reusable for Coffee & Water Colon Cleanse – 6.75 Foot Long Silicone Hose, 7 Tips Included. Detox for Men and Women. : Health & Household )
- Exercise and jumping on the rebounder is next on my list. Other than purchasing a nice quality rebounder (miniature trampoline), this treatment is low-cost or even free. I make sure to walk for 30 to 45 minutes every day. This helps bring more oxygen into your body and increases metabolism. Both are good for fighting cancer tumors. Also, I jump on my rebounder for 10 minutes twice a day. This helps get your lymphatic system moving around in your body which improves your immune system. Staying hydrated is also important while keeping the circulation of your blood and lymphatic system going.
- A newer one of my alternative treatments is drinking liquid oxygen water. This water is specially formulated to hold oxygen so that when you drink it, the oxygen-rich water absorbs into your body. “Patriox drinking water is an oxygen-rich, alkaline-balanced water with a refreshing, smooth taste. It’s made from pristine spring water,100% natural with no added flavoring, preservatives, additives, chemicals, or external oxygen.” – Patriox website. What I have not tried (but would like to try):

- Grounding sheet
- Hyperbaric chamber
- Detox protocols
- Acupuncture
And I am still searching for more ideas!
